The Midwestern Society of Arts & Crafts Presents: An Art Exhibition

Inside an unassuming and unoccupied house located in East English Village of Detroit, a group exhibition has quietly taken over the two-story residential space featuring over 25 artists. The Midwestern Society of Arts & Crafts Presents: An Art Exhibition,” is now on view through September 30th, curated by David Flaugher. The unconventional domestic setting sets the tone for a wide range of artworks curated together based on the premise of giving those participating an opportunity to show in Detroit, and for some a reason to travel to Detroit for the first time.

Flaugher, an established visual artist as well, found himself eager to re-connect with the artists that he knew from time spent in NYC after he re-located back to Detroit two years ago. The group exhibition that was not curated based on any specific theme or concept, but instead presents an exploratory and playful site-specific installation highlighting each of the individual works to bring together a range of mediums and aesthetics.

Various artists on view include many New York and California based artists such as Eli Ping, Jared Madere, Andrew J Greene, Win McCarthy, Brandon Ndife, Lorenzo Bueno, Davina Semo, and Carmen Winant, in addition to a few artists either from Detroit or currently based in the city, including Michael E.
