DONATE NOW: DETROIT NEEDS THIRD WAVE MUSIC STORE TO OPEN FOR LOCAL MUSICIANS NEEDS

Third Wave Music is one of the most recent semi-finalists in Hatch Detroit, a contest to support independent retail businesses in Detroit through funding, exposure and mentoring. Sister Pie was announced the winner yesterday, and although who doesn’t love a good pie? The music community in Detroit has been left with heavy heart.

A fact for you readers out there: the city of Detroit has NO music stores that sell instrument and equipment items or repairs. How can that be for a city that is known for creating some of the most incredible music the world has ever seen? The creative community has picked up where Hatch Detroit left off, and started an Indiegogo campaign for Third Wave Music to open anyways.

Please support Third Wave Music’s entrepreneurial spirit to bring new and used instruments, accessories (strings, reeds, cables…), music lessons and repairs to the city that has and continues to breed incredible musical talent. DONATE ANYTHING YOU CAN NOW.

According to Detroit Music Magazine,

“Third Wave Music’s founder, Jen David, grew up with a jazz musician father, and a mother who managed a family-owned music store in Shelby Township. The musically-inclined entrepreneur hopes that Third Wave Music will be able to offer Detroit musicians new and used instruments, accessories (strings, reeds, cables…), lessons and repairs, as David looks to open a location within Midtown’s Forest Arm Apartments, as soon as 2015.”

Third Wave Music will be located in historic Forest Arms ! Right next to WSU’s school of music, a short bike ride from Cass Tech, and a few blocks from Detroit School of Arts ! These students NEED the resources a music store can provide.
