DETROIT BOOM CITY GROUP EXHIBITION TAKE OVER AN ABANDONED PICKLE FACTORY

DETROIT BOOM CITY GROUP EXHIBITION TAKE OVER AN ABANDONED PICKLE FACTORY

Detroit Boom City is a site-responsive, fully immersive exhibition in an old pickle factory on the east side of Detroit. The exhibition will be presented in a vacant, former pickle factory dynamically situated in the city. The building boasts a rich history and is owned by Detroit natives who are themselves social entrepreneurs committed to enhancing the cultural landscape of their neighborhood. Artwork will be presented inside the building, in a courtyard, and on the facade, and consist of painting, sculpture, video, and experiential installation.

Participating artists were selected for the quality of their execution and conceptual practice, as well as their engagement in social entrepreneurship & community. Each Detroit-based artist produces work that responds to or enhances their city; they hone an individual practice while maintaining a community minded-mission that connects people to place and each other. Detroit Boom City connects community at the intersection of art and social entrepreneurship.
